Center-Stanton Public School

The girls won their first tournament as a team on Saturday in Hettinger! The Huber girls lead the Center/Stanton girls with first place finishes at 106 and 112. Avery also placed 4th at 106. The girls look to continue their hot streak in Casselton on Saturday. The boys started the weekend off with duels on Friday in Killdeer. The first dual was against Velva. We had the lead 26-16 with only four matches left but couldn’t hold on loosing all four matches left with 2 of them being open at 180 and 215. Final Velva 40 and NSA 26. We then went on to pick up a win against Kildeer. We were up by 1 point with just the 107 left to wrestle and Chase sealed the victory with a 16sec pin against Hank Baumbach for a 41-34 victory. The boys finished the night off against Harding County, SD. Again, we were up 24-16 after the first seven matches with wins by Tanner and Hudson but couldn’t hold on at the upper weight classes and, despite wins by Chase and Gunner to close us out, we lost 38-33 in a heart breaker. The boys went on to compete in individulas on Saturday. Hayes Weinberger took 1st at 133j to lead our team to an overall finish of 7th out of 15 teams. Center/Stanton boys results: Chase Becher 107 took 3rd went 5-1, and Hudson Bucholtz-Casson 152 placed 6th went 3-3. Other wrestlers—Eli Renke 107 DNP went 2-2, Gunner Fricke 114 DNP went 1-2, Kade Boeshans 114 DNP, Tanner Fleckenstein 139 DNP, and Legion Dionne 285 DNP. We have a home dual in New Salem Thursday night. Come see some great wrestling and support your Center/Stanton Wildcats!

The Lady Wildcats battled tough Garrison JV team last night and emerged victorious. The girls showed their toughness and determination, withstanding two great runs from the Troopers! If you haven't gotten a chance to see these young ladies compete in person, come cheer them on Tuesday January 27th at 6 pm as they take on Mandaree JV!

The girls had an awesome weekend in Hazen. If you have an opportunity, come out and see these girls compete! It is really impressive the effort they all put into it! The girls overall took 7th out of 22 teams, which was also impressive considering we only had Nora and Autumn wrestling from Center due to illness and injuries. Nora took 7th at 106 and Autumn took 3rd at 118. Nice work, Huber girls! Get well soon, Avrey and Taylor! The boy's tournament was canceled due to the weather on Friday. Girls will be in Hettinger on Saturday, and boys will be in Killdeer for duels on Friday and individuals on Saturday.

The Lady Wildcats bested the Legacy Sabre Sophomores last night in a make-up game for the final round of the New Salem Tournament. The girls played well and are looking forward to Thursday nights matchup against a strong Cardinals' squad at Washburn!

The Lady Wildcats defeated the Richardton-Taylor Raiders JV on Tuesday night. The Wildcats found their offense to the tune of 60 points! Everyone on the team contributed to the win against a very strong and resilient Raiders' JV squad. See the Lady Wildcats in action on Friday at Drake at 5:30 pm, then see the Wildcat boys take the floor at 7!

The boys and girls basketball teams were busy over the holiday break! The girls played 3 games and won all 3 games against Ellendale and 2 games against Strasburg. In the holiday tournament, Ava was named as player of the game for both games! Congrats to Ava and team.
The boys played Strasburg on Dec 27 pulling off a win with just 5 guys! Very proud of them and congrats to Kyle for being named player of the game! They also played Drayton and Tioga over the break. They were hard fought games but fell a little short. Both seasons kick into full swing this month. The girls play Richardton/Taylor tonight at 5pm in Center. Both boys and girls will be in Drake on Friday! Come and support your Wildcats!

Welcome back Wildcats! Lady Wildcat Basketball had a very successful Christmas Break, going 2-0 at the Capital City Shootout and beating Strasburg-Zeeland at home. Ava Erhardt was named player of the game for both games at the shootout. The girls are playing great and will be in action again today at 5 pm at home vs. Richardton-Taylor JV! Come check it out and enjoy the Wildcat Pep Band! Go Wildcats!

The boys basketball game that was listed asTuesday, December 30th vs. Drayton will actually be played tonight the 29th at 6 pm at United Tribes. Please note the change. Thank you!

Another great weekend of wrestling for Center/Stanton kids. The girls went to Valley City this weekend and all of our girls placed with Autumn and Avery both taking 6th in Varsity. The varsity boys only had Hudson and Chase this weekend going to Linton for the all class B tournament. Chase had a great tournament and came just short in his championship match and ended up 2nd overall at 107. Our younger boys had ND middle school state, and we placed 4 out of our 6 wrestlers which is pretty impressive since that tourney is both class A and B kids. Tanner was our highest placer at 3rd. The kids get a much needed break now until after the first of the year, and a 2lbs allowance!. Merry Christmas!!
