WE “OWL” are READING! February-March

K-6th grade students “OWL” LOVE reading with their new OWL BUDDY!  Students are asked to use their new stuffed plush buddy and read with him/her throughout March for Reading Month. It will be a “HOOT” to have students read to their buddy each night to improve their reading! ~No puns intended.

*First grade students enjoyed making a heart shaped puzzle for their favorite Valentine.

*Mrs. Yunker/Library Assistant enjoys helping students with their new buddies.

*The featured book title during February was Bear Island by Matthew Cordell, Caldecott Medalist. Students learned about life and loss. Life will not be the same after the loss of a loved one, or in this case the loss of a pet. Having a friend through the grieving process is very important for healing. The ending of the story points out that things can change for the better, given enough comfort and time.

In March the students may read and earn prizes from the Center Oliver Library. The students receiving prizes will be recommended by their classroom teachers. We would ”OWL” LOVE to see a new record set for the number of minutes read by Center-Stanton students throughout the month of March!

Thanks,

Mrs. Meckle
