Dinosaur

April has been Dino-mite @ the Center Oliver Library!

Students in K-4th grade got to STOMP, CHOMP, and READ all about dinosaurs this last month. Students became dino-experts and found out that past dinosaurs came in all shapes and sizes, and are gentle to deadly. Center-Stanton students became illustrators by using stencils and dino- plates to create their own dinosaurs. Students dug into different dinosaur facts to answer poster questions. They also explored and read about dinosaur eating habits and learned about the different dinosaur species through the Triassic, Jurassic, and the Cretaceous time periods. Toy dinosaurs and egg surprises were enjoyed by the younger students. Story time book highlights included; Who’s that Dinosaur? Iguanodon- Tyrannosaurus Rex- Triceratops By Andy Charman and If the dinosaurs came back by Bernard Most.

Eyewitness Dinosaur movie times with fact cards and dinosaur matching games ended the dinosaur month. *A special congrats to Kade Boeshans for guessing closest to the right number of humans for the iguanodon replica worksheet. The correct answer was 22 men were inside the iquanodon replica. WOW! Shout out to Mrs. Sherwin for the huge wood dinosaur puzzle donation. This will be a great addition to our dinosaur unit!

Students in grades 5-7 continue to explore the numerous magazines that our COL has to offer. The students have been doing a show and share of their magazine article summaries. Students had the opportunity to present in front of their peers, and it has been a great public speaking experience for them.

THANKS to Mary Lou Beringer, Luella Metzger, and Chris Christianson for book donations. Please return all library materials by May 14th.  *Students will need to have their checkout sheet signed by either Mrs. Orgaard or myself before school ends.

Thanks,

Mrs. Meckle
