Scholastic Writing Awards Winners at Center-Stanton High School

The Red River Valley Writing Project at NDSU has announced the winners of this year’s Scholastic Writing Awards!

 The winners from Center-Stanton are:

Elena Sorge, 11th grade. Elena won Honorable Mention in critical essay.

Caiden Quinlivan, 10th grade. Caiden won a Silver Key in flash fiction.

Brigid Quinlivan, 8th grade. Brigid won a Silver Key in flash fiction.

 Their educator is Melissa Froseth-Sorge.

The Scholastic Art and Writing Awards, presented by the Alliance for Young Artists and Writers, started in 1923.  The awards have an impressive roster of past winners, including Andy Warhol, Truman Capote, Sylvia Plath, Robert Redford, and most recently, Amanda Gorman.

The mission of the Awards is to identify teenagers (grades 7-12, ages 13 and up) with exceptional artistic and literary talent and bring their remarkable work to a national audience.

The North Dakota state awards ceremony will take place on Saturday, March 23rd from 6:00-7:30 pm at Plains Art Museum. Students and their educators are recognized at the ceremony.

Thanks to a generous donation from John Deere, we will be awarding over $3,000 in cash prizes to the top art and writing submissions!
